St Francis of Assisi Parish, Port Glasgow was founded on 21st September 1969, with the Church being founded on the fourth Sunday of Advent, Sunday 22nd December 1974, by Rt. Rev. Stephen McGill who, at the time, was the Bishop of the Paisley Diocese to which St Francis of Assisi belongs.

ONLINE OFFERTORY AND GIFT AID


During the pandemic, many individuals, families and business have been hit financially; this also includes our parish. As we can no longer have an Offertery during Mass, you can support the parish (as well as other diocesan funds) online by clicking the Online Offertory button.


Similarly, you can set up a Standing Order so that money will be donated to the parish each month. If you pay tax, you can Gift Aid every donation, meaning we receive an extra 25p for every £1 you donate, at no extra cost to you. To register for Gift Aid, or to set up a Standing Order, click the button below.

Our Parish Priest

Fr Jonathan Whitworth has been the Parish Priest of St Francis' since September 2024. He is also Parish Priest of Holy Family Parish, Port Glasgow and chaplain to St Francis' Primary,  St Michael's Primary, St Stephen's High School and Craigmarloch School.
