Welcome to our website

St Francis of Assisi Parish, Port Glasgow was founded on 21st September 1969, with the Church being founded on the fourth Sunday of Advent, Sunday 22nd December 1974, by Rt. Rev. Stephen McGill who, at the time, was the Bishop of the Paisley Diocese to which St Francis of Assisi belongs.  2019 marks 50 years of the parish.

On our website you will be able to read about the news and events happening in our Parish and Diocese; read our Parish buletin; access and download useful links and documents. You will find our contact details and social media links at the bottom of the page.

As announced by the Scottish Government, on 5th January 2021 at 00:00, enhanced measures to Tier 4 will be introduced.

From Friday 8th January 2021, all places of worship must close to the public. This means Mass will not be celebrated publicly.

However, the church remains open for broadcasting (live streaming), funerals and weddings. You can access St Francis' live stream by clicking the button at the top of the page.

The guidance for funerals is that a maximum of 20 people can attend, but wakes and post-funeral gatherings are prohibited.

For weddings, a maximum of 5 people can be present (bridal couple, celebrant, two witnesses).

Please pray for an end to this pandemic, for all those affected by Coronavirus and continue to pray for each other.
